Hockey Memorabilia Auction - Spring 2008
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/10/2008
Interesting early hockey pieces from Harpers includes: 1) Harper’s Round Table magazine with a cover image of a 19th century hockey game in progress. 2) lithograph print taken from the Illustrated London News in 1902 featuring artwork of women playing hockey on ice with sticks and skates, wearing full-length dresses. 3) best, saved for last, is the January 12, 1895 edition of Harper’s Weekly. Inside is a full page with a report on the organization and the rules of the game of hockey with six art images picturing members of the top hockey teams of the day including the Montreal AAA, Victorias and the Ottawa Hockey Club. Overall, in very good to excellent condition. Fascinating!
