Hockey Memorabilia Auction - Spring 2008
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/10/2008
This is a fantastic collection of memorabilia from the early days of retail hockey equipment. A vintage 1906-07 R. & W. Kerr winter sports catalog, a 1913-1914 Barney & Berry ice skates catalog and an early 20th Century framed CCM Skates ad make up this fascinating lot of rare collectors items. The Kerr catalog is 64 pages long and features a pair of 90-pound hockey goals with nets included for just $15 and Spalding hockey sticks for 50 cents. The Barney & Berry catalog is 40 pages long and features the company’s tubular hockey skates for $5 a pair. Barney & Berry’s “Best-Ever” hockey shoe with tubular hockey blade attached were at a premium at $11. The vintage CCM ad measures 9 ½” x 11 ½” and is mounted in a wood frame, with M.J. Brown bicycle service Station at 49 Cork Street in Guelph, Ontario, stamped at the bottom.
