Guy Lafleur was the Montreal Canadiens’ rock star. This marvelous and gigantic portrait by renowned Quebec artist Bernard Pelletier captures Lafleur’s charisma to the letter. What’s not to love about a guy who can flash a winning smile like the one Pelletier has frozen in time for the ages. A rink rat from his childhood in the tiny Quebec village of Thurso, Lafleur was a master of improvisation on the hockey rink. For six seasons in the mid to late 1970s, no star burned brighter throughout the NHL and Flower’s popularity among hockey fans was unlimited and universal. He idolized Jean Beliveau as a youngster and grabbed the torch from the Canadiens’ great captain to hold it high and lead the team to five more Stanley Cups on his way to joining Beliveau and Maurice “Rocket” Richard as the team’s homegrown icons. Lafleur has signed Pelletier’s 19 ¾” x 26 ½” portrait, which is also signed by the artist. The image is beautifully mounted in black matte with gold piping. The solid black and gold wood frame measures 29 ¼” x 36” and offers a spectacular presentation of this homage to one of hockey’s most flamboyant and entertaining players.
