Hockey Memorabilia Auction - Spring 2008
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/10/2008
Sensational little souvenir commemorates the Montreal Canadiens’ second Stanley Cup title in three years and was presented to star centerman Elmer Lach in 1946. The potent “Punch Line” of Toe Blake (3rd), Maurice Richard (5th) and Lach (8th) all finished in the top 10 of league scoring in ’45-46, leading the Habs to their third straight regular season title. Come playoff time, Montreal swept past Chicago and then edged Boston in five hard-fought games, three of them requiring overtime, with the Canadiens winning the clincher 6-3 on Forum ice with Blake scoring the Cup-winner on an assist from Lach. “Hand Made Sterling” is stamped on the reverse of this precious 4-3/4” in diameter keepsake, with engraving on the front reading “National Hockey League Stanley Cup Winners – Season 1945-46 – Club de Hockey Canadien Inc. – Elmer Lach.” In excellent condition, the piece was obtained directly from Elmer Lach and will come with his signed LOA. Neat!
