This lot of four items encompasses Pelle Lindbergh’s brief and stellar stint with the Maine Mariners, the Philadelphia Flyers’ top farm team in the American Hockey League. Lindbergh was named AHL MVP in addition to being named the league’s rookie-of-the-year and best goalie. A 5 ¼” x 7” team issued black-and-white photo shows a long-haired Lindbergh wearing the Mariners’ jersey with the label, “Pelle Lindberg, Goal” at the bottom of the print. This lot also includes two awards presented to Lindbergh by the Maine Mariners Booster Club” for his outstanding play during the 1980-81 season. A 12”-tall wood trophy featuring the Mariners’ distinct ship’s steering wheel logo above a kneeling goalie stretching out his glove was presented to Lindbergh in recognition of him winning the Hap Holmes Trophy that season as the AHL’s best goalie. The Maine booster club also gave their beloved goalie a 7 ½” x 11” wood plaque in the shape of the team’s home state featuring the Mariners’ logo above a plaque engraved, “1980-81 season, Pelle Lindbergh” beside a gold skate and crossed hockey sticks. A Maine Mariners ceramic mug labeled 1981 AHL Northern Division Champions completes the lot. The reverse of the mug lists Mariners coach Bob McCammon and the team’s players, including Lindbergh, John Paddock, Ron Flockhart, Bruce Crowder and Greg Adams. These items were obtained directly from the Lindbergh family and come with a signed letter of authenticity.
