Jean Beliveau Foundation Auction

In 1969 Rusty Staub was acquired by Montreal prior to the Expos inaugural season and became an instant superstar. Known as the "Grand Orange" as he patrolled right field at Jarry Park. Once he came over from Houston, manager Gene Mauch asked him to hit more home runs for the fans. While never previously having hit more than 14 in a single season, Rusty responded with 29 in 1969 followed by 30 the next year and a local hero was born! He was the face of baseball in a city that adopted him like their hockey heroes Jean Beliveau and Rocket Richard. He eventually went on to have a brilliant career with many teams and fell a little shy of 3000 hits. His vintage Louisville Slugger bat is still in great looking condition with however a long thin crack above the handle stretching the trademark. His retired number 10 is marked on the knob.
