Another killer 100+ year old schedule to make serious sked collectors drool, this one lists the games for four different leagues, highlighted by the “Eastern League”, the Eastern Canada Amateur Hockey Association (ECAHA), the top circuit in Canada at the time. Consisting of the Stanley Cup holders, the Montreal Wanderers, along with Quebec, the Ottawa Silver Seven, Montreal A.A.A., Montreal Shamrocks and Montreal Victorias, the league’s games from January 2nd to March 9th are listed, with the results penciled in for all but the last three matches. The bottom of one page has the results of Kenora’s Stanley Cup challenge penned-in in red ink, the Thistles (which included Art Ross), taking possession of the Cup in January with 4-2 and 8-6 wins over the Wanderers. In late-March though, the Wanderers, champs of the ECAHA with a perfect 10-0-0 record, challenged Kenora and recaptured the Stanley Cup with a 12-8 two-games-total-goals victory, winning 7-2 and then losing 6-5. Booklet-type schedule here measures 3” by 5”, features thin cardboard stock covers and eight pages inside. The Intermediate schedule, that of the Federal League, and the Junior hockey schedule are also included, with some of the scores neatly added. The Intermediate page reveals that Westmount and McGill played games at the Victoria Rink. “A.G. Hooper” in pencil is on the cover and the piece was obtained from the estate of Allan Hooper, one of seven brothers prominent in hockey circles at the time (Archie led the Montreal AAA to the Stanley Cup in 1902). Schedule is in excellent condition with a vertical crease near the right edge of the front cover and four spots of scrapbook paper on the back cover. Remarkable piece from hockey’s exciting, formative years. Take notice that the actual photos of the schedule offered in this lot are the ones posted on the website, not the ones from the catalogue.
