We all know that a picture is worth lots of words so we won’t use a ton here, but suffice to say, this vintage matte-finish real photo postcard of the man who donated what has become sports’ most recognizable trophy and hockey’s most coveted award offers a great look at Frederick Arthur Stanley. He was “Earl of Derby” at the time this J. Russell & Sons photograph was taken, having returned to England following his tenure as Canada’s Governor General. Crease-free postcard is also free of writing on the reverse, with only very faint lines at the corners, from once having been kept in a photo album, to mention. A beauty to either display or match up with a Stanley signature!
