After appearing in five games for the Maple Leafs in 1970-71, René Robert got a real taste of NHL action the following year, playing 49 games for the Penguins before being traded to Buffalo that same '71-72 season in a deal involving Eddie Shack. This is René’s fabulous dureen road jersey from his rookie season with Pittsburgh. A frayed and half-detached label in the neck reads “Pittsburgh Sports Shop, inc. Athletic Equipment - Pittsburgh, Penna.” An embroidered Penguins skater logo crest is sewn on the front while tackle twill “14”s are sewn on the sleeves and back. A few small unrepaired holes are on the front along with a couple of small stains. The hem stitching and stitching at the cuffs has let go in several places. Some fraying around the edges of the “14” on the back also to mention, along with a run at the base of the six eyelets. Superb tie-neck style Penguins shirt was originally obtained from René Robert himself and will come with an action photo of Robert during his brief stay in Pittsburgh. Robert later went on to form the “French Connection” in Buffalo, one of the most lethal lines of the '70s. A letter of authenticity will accompany this tempting jersey.
