Captivating Red Wings durene jersey was worn by Detroit veteran Alex Delvecchio in the late-1960s. An Olympic Sporting Goods tag appears in the neck along with a frayed fly tag which appears to indicate size 48, while a half-detached General Athletic washing instructions tag is in the hem. The gorgeous embroidered winged wheel logo is sewn on the front, along with Delvecchio’s team captain’s “C” at the right breast. The number 10 that “Fats” wore proudly for over 20 seasons is sewn on the back and sleeves in tackle twill. There is some bleeding to the numbers and at the white stripes and hem. There has been a nameplate removed from the back with our research revealing that the shirt was recycled for an Oldtimers game in February of 1971. The game was a tribute to the 1950 Stanley Cup champion Red Wings, with this jersey being issued to Jimmy Peters. The shirt shows nice game use from Delvecchio’s days, with two team repairs (dime and quarter-size) on the lower left front, a total of seven on the sleeves, which also include a few burns on each, and a small repair and run on the right shoulder. Two stitch jobs and some red paint transfer on the back are also to note. Donned by an all-time Red Wing great and Hall-of-Famer, the jersey has been preserved in excellent condition and will come with documentation from the MeiGray Group. Outstanding!
