Exceptional work of art pays tribute to former Maple Leaf defenceman Bobby Baun and recalls the goal that forged his spot in Stanley Cup lore and forever gave him hero status in the eyes of Leaf fans who witnessed the 1964 playoffs. Baun returned to game six of the finals after a Gordie Howe shot cracked his ankle and scored the overtime winner, the Leafs going on to win game seven and the Cup back in Toronto. An image of Bobby’s shot eluding Detroit’s Terry Sawchuk is incorporated into the acrylic-on-canvas gem, housed in an elaborate and classy (26” x 32”) frame. Painted by self-taught artist Les Pomeroy, the gorgeous display will be accompanied by Bobby Baun’s signed LOA. Nice!
