Fantastic junior hockey memento from Bobby Baun’s four-year career with the Toronto Marlboros brings forth the story of the Marlies’ powerhouse teams of the mid-1950s and of their back-to-back Memorial Cup championships in 1954-55 and ‘55-56. Saskatchewan-born but Toronto-raised Baun joined the likes of team scoring leader Billy Harris, Bob Pulford, Gary Aldcorn, captain Mike Nykoluk, Gerry James, and Al MacNeil in helping the Marlies to the Canadian junior hockey title in the spring of ‘55, the OHA champs defeating the Regina Pats in the finals for the first of two straight years. Coached by former Maple Leaf goaltender Turk Broda, members of the team received gold keepsakes to commemorate their memorable season. Marvelous ring features “MHC” (Marlboro Hockey Team) above the team logo (a crown and crossed hockey sticks), and a single diamond on the front, with coat of arms appearing on both sides. A nice scripted “B. Baun 1954 1955” is engraved on the interior of the band, also stamped “Birks 10K”. Size 10 ring is in excellent condition, exhibiting only light wear. Kept with pride for over 50 years by Bob Baun, the terrific treasure will come with his signed letter of authenticity.
