Appealing white durene Red Wings home jersey was worn by goaltender Jim Rutherford at the Olympia during the 1973-74 season. Jim had been taken tenth overall by Detroit in the 1969 NHL Amateur Draft, but was picked up in the inter-league draft by Pittsburgh after his rookie ('70-71) big league season, spending parts of three campaigns with the Penguins before being reacquired by the Wings midway through '73-74. Best remembered for his eight years with Detroit, Rutherford got into 25 games in '73-74, posting a 9-11-4 record. With a red Rawlings tag in the neck indicating size 48, the jersey features an embroidered Wings crest in great shape on the front and tackle twill “27”s on the back and sleeves. Game use includes a half-dozen black puck marks and two team repairs on the front, another stitch job on the left sleeve, a good burn at the right elbow and a few other marks on the sleeves. We spot six red paint transfers, with light interior pilling, a stretched collar and a garter-style fight strap also to mention. In primo condition, the goaltender's jersey will surely tempt goalie and Red Wings enthusiasts and will come with an LOA, along with a knit “Rutherford” nameplate from a later jersey.
