Classic miniature Prince of Wales Trophy commemorates a memorable record-shattering but bittersweet season in Bruins’ history. Led by Phil Esposito’s 76 goals, Boston scored 399 times in 1970-71, with Espo, Orr, Bucyk and Hodge finishing atop all league point-getters. A first round loss to Montreal though postponed for a year another Bruins Stanley Cup celebration. Four silver-plated hockey sticks support a cup with removable lid here, with the name of the trophy and that of coach Tom Johnson engraved on one side of the 2-inch high wooden base. A plaque on the opposite side reads “NHL Champions - Winners 1970-71 - Boston Bruins.” With tarnish and one of the little leaves atop the 13” high award broken off, the trophy represents a prolific season.
