Legends in the Thetford Mines region of Quebec, the hockey-playing Fillion brothers included Bob who toiled for the Canadiens for seven seasons in the 1940s, helping the Habs to Stanley Cup championships in 1943-44 and ‘45-46. Considered a dependable two-way player, the left winger’s contributions included four goals and three assists in nine playoff games in the spring of 1946. Bob’s formidable cream color cotton jacket which he no doubt wore with extreme pride, surely turned heads with its now slightly tattered but still impressive chenille “Canadiens” patch which includes “NHL” below. An embroidered patch with crossed American and Canadian flags is on the left shoulder, while the red, white and blue elastic collar and waist, the stretchy knit cuffs and the original intact buttons are also to note. Made by Lippman’s of Detroit with a company tag in the neck, the jacket shows moderate wear but has survived in nice shape with a nickel and a quarter size hole just beneath the back of the collar. From a time when Rocket Richard was “priming”, these team jackets seldom surface.
