One of the proudest men to have ever donned a Montreal Canadiens uniform, Yvan Cournoyer wore this Habs jersey during the last of his 15 NHL seasons. The Roadrunner’s four years of captaining the team coincided with four Stanley Cup championships, bringing his personal total to an amazing 10. Small in stature but a mini Hercules in the corners, Yvan could do it all and many Canadiens fans rate him as their all-time favorite. Back problems slowed the speedster in his final year and ultimately led to his premature retirement. Likely Cournoyer’s final home white gamer, this knit jersey has a Maska Superfil tag in the neck and “Maska” embroidered twice into the front hem, near each seam. The captain’s “C”, a blue-on-white tackle twill nameplate and a garter-style fight strap are to mention, along with the rather significant game use. Multiple black stick marks are on the front and sleeves, with red paint transfer and burns on the sleeves, one resulting in a pea-size hole on the right. A half-inch slice near the left cuff, a few other unrepaired small holes and a dozen team repairs round out the wear. The stitch jobs are found along the hem, custom-shortened for “Courny”, who autographed the front of the jersey in blue sharpie. An LOA from gameworn.net will be included with this tempting jersey, worn by hockey’s one and only Roadrunner.
