Backstopped by future Hall-of-Famer Montreal Canadiens goaltender Bill
Durnan, the Kirkland Blue Devils captured Canada's senior hockey title in 1939-40 by beating the Calgary Stampeders in three consecutive finals' games, winning 8-5, 9-1 and 7-1. Durnan then moved on to the Montreal senior Royals for three seasons before joining the Canadiens. Members of the championship squad received golden mementos like this, with "Commemorating Lake Shore Blue Devils - Winners of Allan Cup - Kirkland Lake 1940" and a hockey scene on the front and no engraving or markings on the back. An original 6" by 8" Turofksy photo of Durnan will be included.
