Stirring image of longtime Canadiens stalwart defenceman Sylvio Mantha was originally obtained from his son and brings forth the story of Mantha’s 13 seasons as a member of the Habs. A right winger who was moved back to defence when he joined the team, Montreal-born Mantha established himself as a solid player with a good shot and fine playmaking abilities. He captained Montreal from 1926 to ‘32 and again from ‘33 to ‘36, acting as player-coach in ‘35-36. The Canadiens’ finest d-man of his era, Mantha helped the red, white and blue to three Stanley Cups and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1960. Original oval frame with bombé glass measures 17” by 23” and has been preserved in fantastic condition. A one-of-a-kind!
