Superb salesman sample ring stirs memories of the Montreal Canadiens’ beginning their four-year reign as Stanley Cup champions. After posting a 58-11-11 record and a franchise-high 127 regular season points, the Habs rolled over the Black Hawks (4-0) and Islanders (4-1) in the first two rounds of the playoffs, setting up a memorable showdown with the two-time defending champion Philadelphia Flyers. Led by scoring champ Guy Lafleur, who scored the Cup-winner, linemates Pete Mahovlich and Steve Shutt, as well as the likes of Cournoyer, Lemaire, Gainey, Robinson, Savard, Lapointe and Dryden, Montreal quashed the Broad Street Bullies’ intimidating style in four straight games and skated off the Spectrum ice with Lord Stanley’s coveted trophy after a 5-3 win. "Club De Hockey Canadien" and the year encircle a big cubic zircon set into a large blue stone on the face of this golden creation, while "NHL Champions" is on the inward sloping section. An image of the Stanley Cup is on one shank, with an enameled Canadiens logo and "Palchak" (the surname of Montreal’s longtime equipment man Eddy Palchak) on the other. The black finish to each side has partially chipped away, but otherwise the size 12 ring is in excellent condition. Recalling the dawning of another Habs’ dynasty!
