Captivating piece of vintage lumber was used by longtime Chicago left winger Johnny Gottselig and later autographed by the Russian-born Gottselig, 14 of his teammates and coach Clem Loughlin. The signature of the legendary Howie Morenz shows up nicely and is fifth from the top. Others to sign were team scoring leader Paul Thompson (Gottselig and Morenz were 2-3), Tommy Cook, Mush March, Doc Romnes, Louis Trudel, Lolo Couture, Art Coulter, Bill Kendall, Alex Levinsky, Norm Locking, Marty Burke, Art Wiebe and goaltender Lorne Chabot. Autographs are in the 7/10 – 8/10 range, while the stick, with Gottselig’s number “14” stamped on the front and side of the shaft, is solid with all original tape still present to go along with numerous puck and stick marks. Also included is an autographed photo of Gottselig which he personalized “To my pal George, Sincerely Johnnie.” Significant piece of Black Hawks history will also excite Morenz collectors.
