Superb image of Jean Beliveau was taken in the Canadiens’ dressing room on May 1, 1965 after the Montreal captain had led the Habs to the Stanley Cup. Toe Blake once said Beliveau was never better than in the ‘65 playoffs when he scored eight goals and set up eight others in 13 games as Montreal beat Toronto in six and edged Chicago in seven, Big Jean scoring the Cup-winner in a 4-0 deciding win on Forum ice. Posed with the Conn Smythe Trophy he was awarded as playoff MVP, Beliveau recently signed this second generation photo in blue sharpie, adding “#4” and “H.O.F. 1972.” Professionally matted and framed to 17” by 20”, it’s a splendid reminder of the Original Six era and one of its most remarkable performers.
