Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction - March 2007
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/27/2007
Two splendid hockey-related pieces here include a “Hockey” cigar box featuring a paper label depicting three players with a goalie in the background and which is pasted along three sides of one end of the wooden box. “Canada’s Favorite 5-cent Cigar” and “Manufactured only by Z. Davis & Co.” appear on the label while the same nifty scene appears on the inside cover. Box is 5” by 9”, is VG, displays well with the lid open and is joined by a 1907 “Canadian Pictorial” magazine picturing Grover Sargent on the cover, captain of the Montreal hockey team and described on page four as one of the cleanest and most brilliant players in Canada. Looks to be the uniform of the Montreal AAA. 24-page mag is G-VG with soiling and moisture damage but it too, still displays nicely.
