Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction - March 2007
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/27/2007
Succulent plum uniform worn by Jamie Kennedy during the pre-season of 1973-74 while with the New York Golden Blades of the WHA. The Blades did not last the full season and their jerseys were purchased by Verona Sports who stripped the names and added their own tagging before re-selling them to a local men’s league. This example has the number “16” on the back below the outline of Kennedy’s name in individually-applied lettering (now removed). This one shows good wear with team repairs and still has the original garter-style fight strap in the tail. Although Kennedy’s name shows up in pre-season rosters, he is not listed as having played in the regular season for the Golden Blades. Very rare style from a short-lived World Hockey Association franchise.
