Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction - March 2007
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/27/2007
You read right folks, this is the jersey Don Awrey wore as his defence partner Bobby Orr scored the oh so famous goal that won the Bruins their first Stanley Cup in nearly three decades on May 10, 1970, at Boston Garden. Awrey was even on the ice for the historic goal and wore this shirt in the regular season and playoffs. Tie- neck style jersey by Rawlings with the original lace through the six eyelets has a faded size “54” added to the company tag in the neck while a double garter-style fight strap is sewn in the tail. Good game use to report with four team repairs in the striping on the lower front, a 3/4” square at the right elbow, another similar in the left gold shoulder and a small one on the upper back. There is significant wear to the crest and numbers which have worn through in certain areas. From a historic game, it comes from a personal acquaintance of Don Awrey and represents a special chance for jersey/ Bruins freaks. *startred* This jersey was in fact originally produced by Wilson and not Rawlings like menttioned in the auction catalogue. *endred*
