Following a trade that sent him from Montreal to Washington, Rod Langway immediately rejoiced his new employers. His play in the first half of the ’82-83 season earned him 2nd All-Star Team status along with a spot in the ’83 NHL All-Star Game in Uniondale, New York, while at season’s end, Langway was named to the 1st All-Star Team and awarded the first of two consecutive Norris trophies as the NHL’s top defenceman. Not bad at all! Rod’s white knit Wales Conference jersey is by Maska with an older company tag in the neck and a funky “M” shaped logo sewn on the rear hem. All the letters, numbers, crests and stars are sewn-on, including “Langway” in individual letters (no nameplate) above the two-tone number “6”. With a double-cloth fight strap (not snipped), the jersey shows evidence of light game use with a small board burn in the orange of the left sleeve. Autographed in blue sharpie at the right breast area, the jersey is from a game that saw Wayne Gretzky score four third period goals to lead the Campbell Conference to a 9-3 win over the Wales Conference, with guess who earning MVP honors. Fine All- Star Game memorabilia will be accompanied by Rod Langways’s signed LOA.
