Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021

Featuring the famous Indian head team crest proudly sported by the NHL’s Windy City and distinguishable from the parent club by the gorgeous “D” tomahawk patches over each shoulder, the Dallas Black Hawks earned four Adams Cup championships in the CPHL/CHL during their tenure, and served as the primary affiliate for the Chicago Black Hawks until 1976. This #16 Dallas Black Hawks jersey originates from the late-1960s/early-1970s. Void of any collar labeling, a washed-out General Athletic tag remains affixed to the inside seam, with the vintage durene garment measuring-out to roughly a size 52. Featuring the classic Indian head team crest with chain-stitched detailing, “16” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in single white twill, with the aforementioned tomahawk patches over each shoulder. Hammered with considerable use throughout, there are numerous material-backed team repairs.
It should be mentioned that the reverse numbers appear to have been reattached at some point, with the sleeve numbers exhibiting some stitching that has let go. The stitching to the shoulder patches also shows areas that have come loose, with the team crest also repositioned and/or reattached at some point, with the original outline visible. Furthermore, the tomahawk patches show no signs of replacement, guaranteeing long continued use with the Dallas club. We should also mention heavy wear to the team crest, with the “1” of “16” on the left sleeve damaged and partially detached. There reverse hem is also unraveled.
