Acquired for future considerations from the Maple Leafs near the end of the 1996-97 season, Murphy registered a combined 26 points in the '96-97 and '97-98 Stanley Cup playoffs helping Detroit to back-to-back Stanley Cup championships. From the Stanley Cup-championship season of 1997-98, we have a Detroit Red Wings jersey worn by the HOF inductee. A large material-backed team repair is located below the team’s crest, half a dozen more are on the right sleeve and four others on the left sleeve. The jersey, which has customized-lengthened sleeves and a custom-shortened hem, also has numerous game marks on both sleeves and front of the jersey. Hailing from the Michael Wexler collection, the jersey comes with a Red Wings COA.
Center Ice and Nike size “56” labels are affixed to the collar, with embroidered Nike and NHL crests on the reverse bottom hem. Styled with the famous winged-wheel team crest, the red V-neck has been accented with single twill sleeve and verso numbers, with the “Believe VK & SM” patch to honor Vladimir Konstantinov and Sergei Mnatsakanov over the right breast. The team patch resides over the inside hem denoting the garment as a "1997-98 Authentic Game Jersey 1st Set” example.
