Playing his junior hockey with the first iteration of the Edmonton Oil Kings and then transitioning to the Seattle Totems of the WHL, Larry Hale would also suit up for 196 with the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League before finding himself in the rival league of the World Hockey Association as a member of the Houston Aeros, where he would become a mainstay on Houston's blue line for the franchise's entire existence. A back-to-back AVCO Cup champion in 1974 and 1975, offered here is this Aeros jersey worn by Hale during his first championship season of 1973-74. A durene knit offering made by Rawlings, a brand tag that displays a "48" size designation is affixed to the inner collar while "Aeros" is spelt out in single layer white twill letters diagonally down the front of the chest. Having had single layer white twill stars placed over both shoulders, the jersey is distinguishable as being a 1973-74 example based on the placement of the shoulder star being much closer to the shoulder yoke as it was higher on 1974-75 jerseys as well as the font that was used on the nameplate, which was changed in 1974-75 as well to a sans-serif style. Styled over the sleeves and verso with Hale's number "17" in single layer white twill numerals, "Hale" is spelt out in matching style letters across the affixed blue twill nameplate across the top of the back. Exhibiting just overall light game-wear, board burns are observed over both sleeves while fabric runs are seen at the lower reverse right hip and red coloured spot stains grace the left side near the hip. Additionally, a small hole is found under the "E" in "Aeros" on the front and pilling/loose threads decorate the interior, heaviest at both elbows. A true relic from one of the best put together seasons from the days of the "Rival League", an LOA will accompany the piece.
