An icon in Vancouver with almost a dozen seasons spent guarding the Canucks’ crease, Kirk McLean had later stints with Carolina and Florida before a two-season swan song on Broadway with the Blueshirts in New York to close out his NHL career that saw him play in 612 games and register 244 wins. Up for grabs here, is this Florida Panthers third jersey worn by McLean during the 1998-99 campaign. A Starter made offering with both Starter/Center Ice Authentic Collection and size “58-G” labeling affixed to the inner collar, both the Starter logo and NHL shield have been embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front with a gorgeous Panthers team crest that displays a myriad of embroidered details, matching alternate logo patches have been sewn to each shoulder. Having been accented over the sleeves and verso with McLean’s number “1” in dual layer red-over-white tackle twill numerals, “McLean” is spelt out in matching style across the affixed matching arched nameplate at the top of the reverse. Showing very light game-wear via a couple of puck marks observed at the lower front and left sleeve, additional wear is present through pilling on the interior and collar and a handful of pulls/snags throughout. Despite the little amount of wear, the jersey has been photo-matched with Getty Images #1303558087 and #1303557921 (February 27th, 1999 vs Toronto) to the extra bunch of navy threading at the right elbow reinforcement and the loose long navy thread extending from the top yellow stripe at the right hip. A Panthers COA and MeiGray COR will accompany the piece.
