Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
King Louis XIII (1601-1643) assumed the throne at the age of eight on May 14, 1610, following the assassination of his father, Henry IV, and ruled France until his death exactly 33 years later. The reign of Louis XIII saw the expansion of New France’s settlements westward along the Saint Lawrence River from Quebec City to Montreal. This Louis XIII framed display features an original document with the King’s “Louis” signature that comes with a JSA LOA. An additional LOA for the framed display references the 1634 signed document and the 1639 Double tournoi France coin and the 1672 Louis XIII Apollo Palatinus medaille coin on each side of the Louis XIII bio plaque at the bottom of the frame.
The original signed document has vertical and horizontal fold creases and a few small missing portions that do not affect the “Louis” signature.
