The record holder for most victories at the Winter Olympic Games with twenty (20), Martin served as a major influence in the development of the sport of curling, establishing the competitive tier in the sport and setting the groundwork for the management of curling teams and the creation of high-level competitive curling events. Named the greatest Canadian male skip in the country's curling history in a 2019 poll by TSN, offered here is this podium jacket worn by Martin as a member of Team Canada at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, Utah where he led Canada to a silver medal. A classic wool with leather accents varsity style offering made by Roots that features a knitted collar, hem and cuffs, an event specific brand label is sewn over the inner collar along with an "XXL" size tag as well. Deep red in colour and decorated over the left breast with a leather maple leaf crest that sports embroidered details, "Roots" has been embroidered into the right breast while "Salt Lake City" has been embroidered into the right sleeve and "2002" has been embroidered into the left sleeve. Featuring a snap button closure down the front of the piece, the back displays an embroidered Canadian Olympic Committee logo as well as "Canada" in a multi layer chenille and felt script patch that has other embroidered details as well. Remaining in overall good condition with light marks from age, use and storage seen throughout plus a pen mark over the left sleeve, the jacket hails from Martin's personal collection and comes accompanied by his signed LOA.
