Drafted by both the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League 121st overall in 1974 and San Diego Mariners of the World Hockey Association 21st overall the same year, Kevin Devine would first develop as a member of the the OHA's Toronto Marlboros between 1971 and 1974, registering 156 points in 180 games played with the junior blue and white, helping them to a Memorial Cup crown in 1973. Going on to play 288 WHA games and 2 NHL contests, offered here is this OHA Toronto Marlboros jersey worn by Devine during his first season with the club in 1971-72. A durene knit garment with a tie-neck collar, no labeling is found affixed to the inner collar with the jersey measuring out to roughly a modern size "44". Featuring a design that closely mimics that of the NHL parent club Maple Leafs, the front is decorated with a Marlboros crown team crest that features heavily embroidered and colourful details throughout which has been then sewn overtop of a Maple Leafs crest done in satin twill that has faded over time. Sporting matching white stain Maple Leafs team crests over both shoulders, Devine's number "12" has been sewn to the sleeves and verso in either white or blue numerals of matching satin twill style while no nameplate has ever graced the upper back. Showing no fight strap on the interior, the jersey exhibits good game-wear via light/washed out stick marks over the sleeves, reverse and lower front, numerous red board paint transfer marks on the sleeves and front, board burns and scrapes over the sleeves and body and team repairs to the lower front and leaf crest on the left on the left shoulder. Additionally, good pilling is present throughout the interior, some staining is seen throughout the exterior of the piece, which is heaviest on the inside of the left sleeve and both plus plus small fabric runs are found at the right cuff and inside the reverse hem. Finally, fading is present through the blue portions of the garment as well. Of note, the jersey is distinguishable as a 1971-72 jersey based on the fact that it was the only year out of Devine's three (3) seasons with the club that the Marlboros wore tie-neck collar jerseys. In the other two (2) years, 1972-73 and 1973-74, the team wore v-neck collar jerseys with Devine serving as an alternate captain in 1973-74.
