The last line of defence for the powerful Montreal Canadiens throughout the 1970s, Ken Dryden had previously spent three years at Cornell with an impressive record of 76-4-1. We have a great grouping of Dryden items totaling 10, with a neat display featuring a mini-signed stick, a replica “pretzel-style” goal mask and a signed copy of The Game. We also have a pair of black and white action photos along with a copy of a media photo that has been signed, followed by a pair of Habs programs from early in Dryden’s career in 1971, with an additional pair of programs, one from 1966-67 featuring Dryden with Cornell, and an example from 1970-71 while Ken was with the Montreal Voyageurs.
The replica mask is a full-sized copy expertly executed, with a standing plexiglas base and name plaque. The Mask is attached to the base, but can easily be removed if desired. According to our consignor, this mask was once displayed at the Montreal Forum. The display is roughly 20” x 30” and it features a signed mini-stick along with a pair of media photos and a mini-retirement banner. The signature displays well, with the top part of the frame detached. The programs vary in condition, with the pair from the Habs in lower grade, while the Boston College (Cornell) and Baltimore Clippers (Montreal Voyagers) programs remain in very good condition with handling wear. Lastly, the signed copy of The Game features its dust jacket, with Dryden signing on the first page adding “To Bruce”, and the signature is flawless.
