Held in Sarajevo Yugoslavia from Feb 8th to Feb 19th, the 1984 Winter Olympics were dominated by East Germany and the Soviet Union, with the two nations taking home a combined 49 medals! We have a very attractive group of 1984 Winter Olympics lithographs totaling 4, produced by noted artist Ken Danby. Each lithograph feature’s wonderful artwork, highlighted by a portrayal of Canada vs the US in hockey. Included are “Cross-Country”, “Downhiller”, “Free Skating” and “Canada 4 – U.S.A. 2”, with each litho framed to full dimensions of roughly 15 ½” x 18 ½”. With no issues regarding condition, this set would look impressive displayed together.
Ken was invited by the CTV Television Network to travel to Sarajevo in 1984 and create sketches and studies at the Olympic events - with each sketch televised across Canada during daily interviews. Following the Olympics, the originals were auctioned on Wide World of Sports, with the proceeds benefitting Canadian Amateur Sport.
