Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
Magnificent replica of Lord Stanley’s coveted trophy commemorates the Boston Bruins triumphant return to professional hockey's pinnacle in the spring of 1972. After their disappointing playoff loss the previous year, the Bruins were the pride of the NHL in 71-72, chalking up 54 wins and 119 points as Phil Esposito banged in 66 goals and Bobby Orr took the Norris and Hart trophies. Bucyk's name and those of his teammates are engraved in two columns on the barrel of this exquisite 13” silver-plated keepsake. General Manager Milt Schmidt and Coach Tom Johnson are among the team executives whose names are inscribed above those of Orr, Espo, Cheevers, Sanderson, Hodge, Cashman, Stanfield, McKenzie and the wonderful supporting cast. Despite thorough and heavy tarnishing throughout along with wear to the wooden base, the trophy has been signed over the underside and displays wonderfully, and would fit well into any advanced Bruins holdings. A signed LOA from Mr. Bucyk will accompany.
