Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017

The all-time leading scorer for Boston University, John Cullen was awarded the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy for making a comeback in 1989-90 after being diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. We have a signed Pittsburgh Penguins alternate captain’s home jersey that was worn by the Ontario native during his Bill Masterton-winning season. Maska Ultrafil tagging appears along the collar with handwritten “11”, with a CCM crest on the back bottom hem. Styled with an attractive and embroidered Pens team crest, the solid white v-neck has been accented with double-twill sleeve and verso numbers, with the important 1990 NHL All-Star game patch residing over the left shoulder. Cullen has added a bold, blue marker signature over the right shoulder, and it displays well.
Heavy game-use is immediately apparent, with a plethora of marks, board burns and team repairs, along with some pilling and loose threading in spots. Over 25 repairs are visible, with the bulk situated over the sleeves. The 1989-90 season would see Cullen reach his highest career goal total, with 32 markers netted.
