Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2023

Detroit’s 5th round draft choice in 1988, Joey Kocur would spend 10 of his 15 National Hockey League seasons in Motown wearing the famed winged wheel of the Red Wings over two tenures, winning Stanley Cups in 1997 and 1998. Hailing from the second of their back-to-back Cup wins, offered here is this pair of gloves worn by Kocur during the 1998 Stanley Cup Finals. Hespeler Classic models in Detroit’s classic red and white colours, the gloves feature screened-on, embossed and sewn on patch identifiers with “Kocur” over each wrist. Featuring good wear through lots of dark rubbing to each palm, holes are found in the left one while separation is present on the inside of each as well. Showing light wear and peeling to the leather around the edges, stick marks/scuffs also decorate the outside of each. Signed by Kocur on the wrist of both gloves with black marker signatures that display well and show just some light fading from age, the gloves have been photo-matched with Getty Image #379611 (June 9th, 1998 vs Washington – Stanley Cup Finals Game 1) to the long black thread seen on the palm of the right glove.
