Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
A relic from his final season with the Quebec Nordiques, Joe Sakic would score an impressive 62 points in just 47 games in 1994-95 (shortened season), with an appearance made for Team Canada at the World Championships that season. Also hailing from 1994-95, we have a photo-matched Nordiques captain’s jersey that was worn by the superstar. A Maska label and size 54 fly tag are affixed to the collar, with embroidered CCM and NHL logos gracing the lower hem. Styled with a layered tackle twill team crest, “19” appears over the sleeves and verso in white-over-red twill, with fleur-de-lis in matching material affixed over the lower front, reverse and shoulders. Worn by one of the modern era’s greatest players, this important jersey will be accompanied by an LOA.
A number of puck and stick marks litter the lower front, with additional marks over each sleeve along with a few scuffs and burns. There is also some pilling to the interior sleeves, with 6 team repairs over the front along with a single repair over the left sleeve. Getty Image #158211512 from Feb 13, 1995, has been matched to all of the marks in the team crest and to a few black marks on the lower right hem, while Getty Image #228848, from March 23, has been matched to all of the marks in the team crest, and to numerous black marks on the lower hem. Finally, an included numeric image has been matched to the small black mark on the top left of the team's crest, to the white mark below it and to the big black mark on the lower edge. The image is also matched to a pair of black marks on the lower left front hem.
