A veteran of 324 National Hockey League games over the course of his professional career in which he suited up in the colours of Boston, Toronto, Chicago and Edmonton, Jim Harrison would also see action in the World Hockey Association as a member of the Alberta/Edmonton Oilers and the Cleveland Crusaders. Leading the Oilers in scoring during their inaugural season of 1972-73, offered here is this photo-matched Oilers jersey worn by Harrison during the 1973-74 season. Void of any labeling on the interior, something commonly seen with this set of shirts, the heavy durene knit garment was produced by Western Athletic and measures out to roughly a size "46" after inspection. Decorated over the front with a familiar Oilers team crest in tackle twill that features both embroidered and beautifully chain-stitched details throughout its entirety, the distinguished alternate captain's "A" has been sewn over the left breast. Having had Harrison's number "7" sewn to the shoulders and verso in dual layer tackle twill numerals, a white twill nameplate has been affixed to the upper reverse which has had "Jim Harrison" chain-stitched into it, something done by the hockey club during only the 1973-74 season. Featuring a garter style fight strap on the interior, the jersey exhibits good evidence of game-wear including stretching of the collar, light stick marks over the front, a small light red board paint transfer mark over the reverse hem, light stick marks over both the right sleeve and reverse, team repairs to both sleeves, a repair to the nameplate underneath the "o", good fading from numerous washings, particularly to the "A" on the front and "7" on the reverse, sweat staining at the cuffs and lastly, heavy pilling to the material on both the interior and exterior.
Regarding the aforementioned photo-match, the jersey is matched to the 1974-75 Edmonton Oilers team photo to the heavy spots of fading in the alternate captain's "A". Harrison, who was traded to the Cleveland Crusaders on October 14th, 1974 before the start of the season was still around in Edmonton when they took the team photo for the year and the club can be seen in their old style uniforms as their new ones for the year had not come in yet.
