Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2025
Hailing from his post career in the early-1970s, this signed stick was most likely used by superstar Jean Beliveau is some oldtimers capacity. A CCM Custom Pro model with "Beliveau" and "4" stamped to the upper shaft in the same manner as his 1960s CCM sticks, there is also a McNiece's supplier stamp suggesting that these models were still acquired through the Montreal Canadiens by Jean. There is heavy toning and darkening to the stick and wear to the shaft and graphics, with the areas of the original tape on the blade and knob visible - with this the correct style tape job for Beliveau during the last seasons of his career. There is also a small hole drilled at the toe of the blade. Big Jean has signed the reverse heel in black marker, with the signature flawless. An ACA hologram is affixed next to the signature, and we should note that the accompanying LOA from the company erroneously dates the stick "Circa 1955". The "Gentleman John" hardcover Beliveau book comes with the original slip jacket (light wear with a few faint marks) and Canadiens cover letter that is affixed to the first page but removable, with Jean signing the title page in blue marker, adding "HOF 1972".
