Becoming the first NHL goaltender to register to win at least 30 games in his first six seasons of play, Henrik Lundqvist accomplished the never before done feat on March 11th, 2011 in a 6-3 win over the Montreal Canadiens at MSG. Hailing from that same season, up for grabs here is this glove and blocker set worn by “King Henrik”. Bauer Supreme models in the Rangers familiar red, white and blue colourway, Hank’s personal crown logo and “Lundqvist” are embroidered into each piece. Showing just light wear via puck marks and light sweat staining observed throughout each piece, the blocker shows light post paint transfer from rubbing and light soiling/rubbing on the palm while the catcher has had memory foam added to the opening and wrist area to absorb force from shots. The winningest goaltender in Rangers franchise history, Kay Whitmore’s initials have been penned to each piece in black marker and Lundqvist has signed the face of the blocker and wrist guard of the glove with a blue ink signature with added annotations on each reading “10-11 Game Used”. The autograph and annotation on the glove show well with only light bleeding while the one on the blocker displays with fading from age but is still very much legible. A Steiner hologram is affixed to the face of the blocker under the autograph and is accompanied by a matching LOA from the company made out by the goaltender himself.
Of note, no photos from the 2010-11 season show Lundqvist using this set of gloves during games and the foam along with the presence of a very stiff palm on the inside of the catcher lead us to believe that these may have been a practice set.
