Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
Successful so frequently that winning the Stanley Cup became commonplace, Henri Richard earned eleven titles with the Montreal Canadiens, including in 1967-68 during the first year of expansion. Finishing in first during the regular season, the Habs would lose only a single postseason match in 1968 on route to their first of three championships over just a four-year period. This signed Stanley Cup trophy was presented to the Pocket Rocket for the Canadiens' status as 1968 Stanley Cup champions. Standing a majestic 13” and mounted to a wooden base with green felt underside, the names of the men who made it happen are engraved in two rows beneath the Canadiens’ executives, including Richard, Worsley, Cournoyer, Duff, Vachon and others, with “Club de Hockey Canadien” and “1967-68 Season” engraved above. There is considerable oxidation and tarnishing throughout, with surface loss in a few areas including along the rim, with no dents visible. There is some additional wear to the wooden base, with Richard signing the green felt underside in black marker. Hailing from his personal collection, a signed LOA from Henri Richard will accompany this majestic Stanley Cup championship trophy.
