Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/2/2023
Going the full seven games, the 1964-65 Stanley Cup final featured Henri Richard and a dominant Montreal Canadiens club taking on a youthful Bobby Hull and the Chicago Black Hawks, with the Habs too much for the Windy City hopefuls, claiming their second title of the decade. Richard would net a trio of markers in the final, including the last goal scored in Game 7. Hailing from his personal collection and originally gifted by the city of Montreal, we have Richard’s 1965 Stanley Cup award. Oval-shaped with polychrome enameling over a copper base, the approx 9 ½” diameter display piece features a wonderful design, with French text over the reverse listing the particulars including “offert par la ville de Montreal”, “a Henri Richard du Club Canadien”, and “Coupe Stanley 1965”. An LOA from the Richard family will accompany.
Remaining in beautiful condition, ideal for display, there are a few small chips to the enameling visible over the front and reverse.
