Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
The Montreal Canadiens made it six regular season championships in seven years in 1961-62, racking up 42 wins and 95 points, 13 ahead of the second place Maple Leafs. With Henri Richard and Jean Beliveau limited to 54 and 43 games respectively due to injury, the likes of Backstrom, Provost, Geoffrion and others had fine offensive seasons to lead the Habs to the Prince of Wales Trophy, with Jacques Plante claiming the Vezina Trophy. For their efforts, team members received commemorative silver-plated ice buckets like this example that was presented to HOF superstar Henri Richard. At approx 8” in height, the dual-handle bowl with removable lid is engraved with “National Hockey League – League Champions – 1961-62” and “Club de Hockey Canadien Inc – Henri Richard”. Sporting tarnishing throughout, there are no major dents visible, with a slight bend along the rim. Originally obtained from Henri Richard's personal collection, an LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany.
