This stunning Hart Memorial Trophy was presented to Guy Lafleur for his formidable 1976-77 MVP season. Guy firmly established himself as the NHL’s best player, winning his second straight scoring championship (Art Ross Trophy) with 56 goals and 136 points while electrifying fans around the league and being voted by his peers as the most outstanding player (Lester Pearson Trophy). Lafleur didn’t stop there, "Le Demon Blond," as he was also known with his long hair, wild end-to-end rushes and booming shot, also led the 1976-77 Playoffs with 26 points in 14 games and was named MVP of the playoffs (Conn Smythe Trophy) as the Habs treated their fans to another Stanley Cup parade.
This Hart Trophy features golden flames which engulf the crown of the award which is engraved with “Hart Memorial Trophy, Presented to the National Hockey League as it’s Most Valuable Player Award”. The engraved metal plate applied to the 3-inch high wooden base, which retains its original green felt underside, reads “Guy Lafleur – Montreal Canadiens – 1976-77”. There are tiny tarnishing spots throughout the golden flames portion of the award which are mainly only visible when looking up closely with some tarnishing also occurring on the lower portion of the trophy near the wooden base. This spectacular award presented to Lafleur for the pinnacle year of his career displays beautifully and remains in superb condition overall.
A splendid reminder of “The Flower” brilliance during a splendid time in Canadiens’ history, the award was originally obtained directly from Lafleur's personal collection and the signed LOA from one of Montreal’s most beloved hockey heroes will be included. Please take note that this item may be subject to a silent reserve.
