Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
A Memorial Cup champion with the Remparts in 1971, Guy Lafleur would spend a pair of seasons in Quebec, scoring 233 goals in just 118 games. Hailing from his second season with the club in the Q in 1970-71, we have a signed stick used by the HOFer. A Victoriaville Pro model, “Rempart” appears stamped-on, with Guy’s number “4” handwritten in red on each side of the upper shaft. Worn stamps from "Mailhot & Freres Inc, Victoriaville, Que" are also visible, with “1970-71” handwritten along with “130” (Lafleur’s goal total for the season). The stick exhibits heavy use with the original black tape over the blade and white over the handle, with the toe section of the blade cut away, with wear to the underside – most likely from post-Lafleur use, possibly street hockey – along with numerous marks to the lower shaft. Guy has added a red signature between the written “4” and the “Rempart” stamp, with the autograph heavily faded.
