Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
A standout on the collegiate scene as head coach of the highly-successful Michigan Wolverines hockey program, Red Berenson would guide the NCAA squad to a pair of National Championships as well as 10 1st-place divisional finishes. Selected as the recipient of the Lester Patrick Award – given to those making a contribution to ice hockey in the United States – in 2005, we have the actual award from Red’s personal collection. A 9" tall bronze likeness of the great Lester Patrick is poised atop a wood base on this wonderful award that stands 11" tall. A Boffey manufacturer's sticker is visible along the brown felt underside of the 7" x 5 1/2" wood base, with a plaque affixed stating “Lester Patrick Award – Gordon Red Berenson – 2005”. In absolutely stunning condition, a signed LOA from Mr. Berenson will accompany.
It should be noted that the trophy was actually presented in 2006, with the “2005” year listed as there was no winner during the “lock-out” season of 2004-05.
