Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
Mid-Seventies Northland Custom Pro used by Gordie Howe back when Gordie, Mark, Marty and the Houston Aeros were drinking from the Avco Cup. Factory stamped HOWE up on front of the shaft with the stamped pattern code 4319 on the backside. Aged knob tape job is in Howe’s typical two-tone mix of white cloth tape and the heavily-oiled bulldog tape and it is the correct length and shape with a rise in the middle. In outstanding condition with a handful of solid stick and puck marks and a slight chip at the toe of the blade. This one is a really choice example!
The stick displays the original colored accent band low on the shaft in black, blue and white to match the uniform colors of the Houston Aeros of the World Hockey Association. Blade is taped in the middle in creamy white cloth tape and this has been rubbed front and back with black tape to leave marks, another telltale sign of a legitimate Howe gamer from the period.
