Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2020
Joining the WHA’s New England Whalers at 49 years of age in 1977-78, Gordie Howe was still posting especially impressive numbers at this tenure of his career, including scoring 96 points in 76 games in his first season with New England. This stick was used by the iconic legend during his second season with the Whalers, in 1978-79. A Sher-Wood PMP 5030 model with “Howe G” stamped over the upper shaft and “9” handwritten, the original white tape over the blade and black over the knob is intact, with a date code of “6 Avr 1979” along the underside. Light use is exhibited on the lumber, with the blade and shaft “rubbed” and appearing darker, with a tiny bit of chipping to the top edge of the blade.
