Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
While it’s hard for any modern hockey adherent to picture netminders roaming the crease bare-faced, this was entirely the case for the majority of the sport’s existence. Originating from the formative days of head gear protection, we have a pair of scarce goalie masks with a 1950s Louch fiberglass example, along with a late-1960s caramel-coloured pro-style fiberglass mask. We also have a 1970s Stall & Dean Puckmaster street hockey mask as an added bonus. The Louch mask has the original red leather padding intact with a name handwritten along the head strap, with heavy use immediately apparent with a ton of marks, blemishes and scratches to the surface.
The caramel fiberglass mask has deteriorated padding (some detached but present) and well worn straps, with a fairly clean surface and great display potential. The Stall & Dean example has an intact label and strapping, with a single loose foam pad.
